Curtin Academy Advisory Board (CAAB)

As part of the project to relaunch and re-energise the Curtin Academy, the Curtin Academy Executive has proposed formation of a Curtin Academy Advisory Board. This refines the earlier idea of a patron, and allows us to expand our networks and leverage the networks of others towards our common goal.

Establishment

The Curtin Academy Advisory Board (CAAB) was established by the Curtin Academy Fellows on

30 of August 2020.

Functions and responsibilities

The role of the Curtin Academy Advisory Board is to provide strategic advice to Curtin Academy on emerging industry trends and workforce development needs, facilitate linkage between the Curtin Academy and industry, government, professions and the community, provide critical reflection on the work of the Curtin Academy and promote the Curtin Academy, its mission and its contributions.

Welcome from the Chair, CAAB

It was my great honour and privilege as Chair of the Curtin Academy Advisory Board (CAAB) to introduce the members of the Board at the Curtin Academy Celebration function on Thursday 26 November.

The role of the Curtin Academy Advisory Board is to:

// provide strategic advice to Curtin Academy on emerging industry trends and workforce development needs;

// facilitate linkages between the Curtin Academy and industry, government, professions and the community;

// provide critical reflections on the work of the Curtin Academy; and

// promote the Curtin Academy, its mission and its contributions.

I am very humbled to Chair this Board whose other members include the following distinguished members:

I would like to thank each Board member for agreeing to give up their valuable time and join this Board.  We greatly value the insights and expertise that they will bring to the Academy.

I would also like to thank the Chair of the Curtin Academy, Associate Professor Rachel Sheffield and its Executive for establishing this Board and to recognize the work of Curtin Academy Associate Professor Georgina Fyfe in translating the idea to make it a reality by coordinating the development of its Constitution.

I look forward to working with the Board in 2021 to help the Academy achieve its strategic goals.

Professor Dale PINTO

CHAIR, CA Advisory Board

“The Curtin Academy is doing outstanding work in cultivating teaching excellence at Curtin. Despite the challenges of 2020, the Academy has further evolved to build upon the exceptional expertise of their leadership through their panel series,  staff mentoring program and input into key University partnerships and strategy. Curtin Academy is a valuable asset to teaching and learning at Curtin and I look forward to seeing their great work continue in 2021.”
